Material Characteristics
The lamp consists of a diffuser crafted from two joined opalescent saucers, gracefully suspended from the ceiling by a black-painted aluminum canopy.
With the introduction of methacrylate in 1949–50, a new polymer plastic significantly stronger and lighter than glass, the designer embarked on experiments that led to the creation of this iconic design.
