What is Matatabi?
The plant is native to the mountains Japan and China and grows like an ivy on trees and rocks. It is officially named Actinidia Polygama, but is commonly called Silver Vine for the distinctive color of its leaves.
Many cats react to Matatabi (the vine of the Silvervine plant) even if they show little interest to catnip. A 2017 scientific study found 70% of cats had a reaction to catnip, however over 80% of cats had a reaction to silvervine, with many cats enjoying both!
While Matatabi/ Silvervine is slowly becoming more well known here in the United States, and is more popular in East Asia than traditional catnip!

Matatabi Sticks Matatabi Sticks is a plant native to the mountainous regions of eastern Asia. It has two compounds to attract cats — actinidine and dihydroactinidiolide. When exposed to silvervine, cats enter a euphoric state that involves behaviours like rolling, chin and cheek rubbing, meowing, drooling and licking, pretty much like catnip would do on cats. We bought these covers to protect our new set from the kids. They are just perfect! Got them in color Natural. Fabric has a good stretch. Not so thick but not thin either. Best part is easy to put as they have tags on each sides. Im not sure with the quality since its new. I want to re purchase another one but different color since my husband is not feeling it.
We bought these to cover the sofa immediately after we had them cleaned & disinfected.(less costly to clean the slip covers). The dog gave themthe sniff test & then made herself comfortable.A purchase well worth it. Easy to maintain,easy to put on & just plain comfortable.
I ordered this thinking it would be that waffle pattern material like every other couch cover I’ve purchased. It is NOT! It is made of a very soft (very synthetic) material. Like most couch covers it barely fits my couch, and it does come with the crappy little foam noodles that don’t actually help it fit right. But my family (kids and dogs included) really love how soft it. Im not sure how it will hold up and I’m fairly certain its going to be a nightmare for dog hair. But i am happy with my purchase and would probably buy again.
